Our primary school became a beacon of understanding and support as we held a transformative Mental Health session, where pupils engaged in meaningful discussions about mental health awareness, help-seeking behavior, and the critical issue of gender-based violence. Through interactive activities and open dialogues, pupils learned the importance of recognizing their own emotions and understanding that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. The session emphasized how mental well-being is just as important as physical health and encouraged our young learners to cultivate a safe space for themselves and their peers, fostering a culture of empathy and resilience within our school community.

The discussions also delved into the complexities of gender-based violence, highlighting its impact on individuals and communities. Pupils were encouraged to share their thoughts in a safe environment, learning the importance of respect and kindness in their interactions. By addressing these vital issues early on, we are equipping our pupils with the knowledge and tools they need to stand against violence and support one another. This proactive approach not only raises awareness but also empowers our young learners to become advocates for change in their own lives and the lives of others.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mental Health Africa and the RACAS Foundation for their invaluable efforts in organizing this enlightening session. Their dedication to promoting mental health awareness plays a pivotal role in breaking the stigma surrounding these essential topics. A special thank you to our compassionate teachers, whose support and guidance helped create an atmosphere where pupils felt safe to express their thoughts and feelings. Together, we are paving the way for a healthier, more informed generation, equipped to face challenges with courage and understanding.
